Accommodates Your Growing Baby
Featuring a customizable insert and low harness slots, the onBoard35 Air Infant Car Seat fits small infants weighing as little as 4 pounds and is adjustable for growing babies. Because it offers extra legroom, the onBoard35 Air keeps your little one comfortable in a rear-facing position all the way until he or she reaches 35 pounds or 32 inches.
Air Protect Provides Two Layers of Side-Impact Protection
One in four crashes involving children are side-impact, the most dangerous type of collisions for children. The onBoard35 Air Infant Car Seat addresses this concern by integrating Air Protect technology, which helps to decrease the chances of crash-related injury for your precious cargo.
Safety 1st engineers designed Air Protect using testing methods that simulate the most violent types of side-impact crashes--those with vehicle intrusion. Using this methodology, Air Protect system was engineered to defend your child in two vital ways. In the event of a collision, the system immediately shields your child's head from impact. As its second layer of defense, Air Protect allows air to escape from the headrest, channeling crash energy away from your child and extending the amount of time it takes to slow your child's movement.
Easy to Install and Carry
The onBoard35 Air Infant Car Seat features an adjustable stay-in-car base that keeps the seat secure, and has an easy-to-read level indicator to help with proper installation. An integrated belt lock on the car seat base also simplifies installation by easily securing your vehicle seat belt, while the one-click LATCH system allows for fast installation when moving between compatible vehicles.
For further convenience, an ergonomic Carry Curve handle on the infant seat makes for comfortable transport to and from the car.
The onboard 35 Air Infant Car Seat is backed by a manufacturer's limited one-year warranty against defective materials or workmanship.

Probably the safest infant car seat on the market
My husband used to be a car safety engineer. His team crashed cars & shot dummy heads inside vehicles all day long to test crash impact at different speeds, & they designed the impact foam structures in car interiors. So he did some intensive research on infant car seats for our baby.
We went to BabiesRUs & checked out every infant car seat they have on display. He quickly dismissed Graco Snugride because the buckle tongues are made of cheap plastic, which will snap instantaneously upon a 10-15mph impact - so much for the 5-point harness. Baby will be ejected like a basketball. Ironically, it's hard to unbuckle during daily life - maybe it aims to prevent babies unlock themselves but I had to struggle over 2 mins to unbuckle the belt on each of all 4 Graco models (same car seat, just different fabric cover). Then he quickly ruled out all car seats with flared top - where baby's head would be. Because upon impact, especially side impact, the last thing you want is to...

Great Seat, NOT INTENDED FOR SMALL CARS
Before my daughter was born, my husband and I spent 3 months looking for the perfect car seat with a decent price. We read reviews, visited every store with a baby furniture section and finally agreed on this one. We loved the side impact air cushioning. After reading all the safety features, my husband and I bought it. It wasn't until we went to install it into our car (I drive a yaris) that we realized how much room it takes up. Whichever seat it sits behind, has to be moved forward leaving the front seat passenger no room. As much as I love this carseat I wish I would of thought to measure the backseat area first.
Air Protect System for Side Collisions
One reviewer does not understand the function of the Air Protect system. It is not supposed to be the same as a car airbag, which could be deadly for an infant. It protects from side collisions. It is a passive air release system. More information on this can be found on YouTube at [...]. Most comparison tests do not include side collision tests even though these can be the most deadly for babies.
