Great Gate!
I bought this for my 11 month old. It has lots of install options. Comes with hardware for two banisters, two walls, or banister-wall. The bansiter mount is great! You can get it very tight. Uses strong velcro straps with a locking buckle. There is even a hex screw to tighten the strap even more. The wall side has mounting options for with or without baseboard. I used the with baseboard option. That uses the three plastic mounts with three screws for the metal bar. The gate hinge side can be installed on banister or wall side. It is easy to change after it is installed. Gate swings both ways. I installed it at an angle, no problems. It is a very sturdy metal gate. I'll upload some pics soon.
Only con was the instructions suck.

Good, not great
I had a really difficult time finding a baby gate that met our needs - top of the stairs, swings open and not automatic, could attach to banister without drilling, and could attach to wall with molding. This was one of three that I found. It took my engineer husband a looong time to install and though he has done so properly it seems the banister side has to constantly be tightened or it slips loose enough that it's wobbly. I do like you can open it and leave it open - nice for bringing in groceries or when baby is down for a nap. It can be opened and shut with one hand while holding baby, just takes coordination and a lot of practice.
All that said, we bought a second one for our third floor ( 3 story townhouse ). I would recommend it to those who need a gate with the same criteria. If you are not as picky I'm sure there is a better gate out there.

We bought a third one (again, bc we needed one with this criteria) and the product arrived...
decent, but attachments not really made for metal railing
The gate seems reasonable for our purpose at the bottom of the stairs, and our young one hasn't come close to dislodging it or getting past it, but it's only been a day or two. The release mechanism will hopefully turn out to be child-proof enough when closed -- it requires pinching two separate pieces together, and then lifting the weight of the gate about 1/2 inch up well, for the physicists, the moment required to lift by one corner when the other is the fulcrum, so say half the weight). It is easy to get it jammed open accidentally if you are too aggressive when you open the gate, but that also seems easy to unjam.
However, part of the reason I chose it is because there were pictures showing attachment to very thin poles/bannister.
The special attachments they provide, based on velcro'ing around the pole, only work with a large diameter pole (say at least 3+ inches).
